SEMIYA UPMA

Let's make another variety of upma with Vermicelli (or) Semiya.

As Breakfast.

HOW TO MAKE VERMICELLI/SEMIYA UPMA?

Ingredients:

  • Vermicelli – ½ cup
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Asafetida – 1 pinch
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Whole red chili – 1
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Ginger – 5g
  • Onion – 30g
  • Water –  ¾ cup
  • Salt – ¼ tsp.
  • Coriander leaves- 1 spring
  • Green chili, chopped – 1

Method:

  1. Roast the vermicelli till golden brown. Remove.
  2. In a karahi, heat the oil fry asafetida, sputter mustard seeds and add whole red chili, fry the chopped curry leaves and green chili. Then fry chopped onion and ginger.
  3. Add water and salt and bring it to boil.
  4. Add roasted vermicelli and cook it till mass is dry.
  5. Serve hot with coriander leaves.

Enjoy it with an omelette/scrambled egg or sugar or any chutney of your choice. 😊
