MASALA VADA

HOW TO MAKE MASALA VADA?

INGREDIENTS:

  • Split red gram – 115g
  • Onion – 30g
  • Green chili – 1
  • Red chili – 2
  • Prawns – 10
  • Red Chili powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1/8 tsp
  • Salt – enough as per your taste
  • Oil - enough to fry

METHOD:

  1. Clean and wash the prawns.
  2. Boil the prawns with red chili, turmeric and pepper powder and enough salt till the prawns is 75% cooked.
  3. Wash and soak the gram for 2 hours.
  4. Grind coarsely the gram with whole red chili.
  5. Mix finely chopped onion, green chilies and salt with gram.
  6. Shape the mixture into 10 small rounds about .8cm thick.
  7. Place one prawn on top of each vada.
  8. Deep fry till crisp and cooked in medium flame.
