KAPPA PUZHUKU

HOW TO COOK MAKE KAPPA PUZHUKU?

INGREDIENTS:

  • Tapioca - 500g
  • Small Onion - 2 
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Green chili - 3
  • Curry leaves - a spring
  • Salt - as per you taste
  • Coconut grated - 3/4 cup
  • Whole red chili - 2
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 3 tbsp (preferably coconut oil)

METHODS:

  1.  Peel and wash the tapioca well.
  2. Cut them into cubes and add water 1 cm above the tapioca and cook them until soft and mushy with enough salt or pressure cook it for a whistle.
  3. Meanwhile grind and crush together coconut, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, 2 curry leaves , garlic , green chilies and enough salt without water.
  4. In medium flame, mash roughly the cooked tapioca and add the coconut crushed. Mix well for about 3 min.
  5. Cover cook it for 2 min and mix well again for another 2 min. 
  6. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds, add the whole red chili and the remaining curry leaves.
  7. Add the tempering to the prepared dish and mix them well. 
Serve with Hot Rice alongside  Kerala Fish Curry or Chicken Curry or just with Chili chutney .
