HOW TO MAKE MANGALORE BUN?

INGREDIENTS:

  • Maida / All purpose Flour - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • Ripe Banana - 2 Medium size
  • Jeera/ Cumin Seeds
  • Curd - 1/4 cup
  • Baking Soda - 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt - as per your taste
  • Oil - enough for deep fry

METHOD:

  1. Try to choose very ripe Banana.
  2. Mash Banana with sugar and soda.
  3. To the mashed banana add salt , cumin seeds and curd and mix well.
  4. Now add the maida and mix well to a very thick paste or very soft dough.
  5. Ferment it for 8 hrs or overnight.
  6. Once fermented. spread little more maida and knead it a like soft chapati dough.
  7. Divide into equal balls of lemon size.
  8. Roll the ball evenly for a diameter of 4-5 cm.
  9. Heat enough oil for deep fry.
  10. Once its hot lower the flame and add the bun and deep fry it until golden brown color. While frying the bun try to pour the hot oil from the side over the bun so as it to bulge up.
