HOW TO  MAKE SOUTH-INDIAN STYLE BUTTERMILK?

INGREDIENTS:

  • Buttermilk – 3 cups
  • Ginger – ¼  inch
  • Green chilies – 2
  • Garlic – 1
  • Small/Red onion – 2
  • Cumin powder – a pinch
  • Turmeric – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Salt – to taste
  • Lime leaf – if preferred 1/4th.

METHOD:

  1. Add salt and curry leaves to buttermilk.
  2. Crush the remaining ingredients and tie them in a muslin bag and dip it in the buttermilk for 2 min.
  3. With a spoon press the muslin bag and extract the flavor.
  4. Set aside for 2 hours in claypot or refrigerator.

Strain and serve.
